Moor Threads presents our first volume of Freedmen Flashcards. Our Freedmen cards are designed Freedmen style to combat the hidden, suppressed history of Black American Freedmen. The terms "Black American Freedmen" refers to former Black American slaves emancipated during and after the American Civil War by the Emancipation and thirteenth amendment. The history and contribution of this lineage of Black people is often overlooked, neglected, and not told accurately when it is. Moor Threads is here to change that!

 Our first volume of 52 cards focuses on and gives a brief overview of Black American Freedmen stories, heroes, achievements, towns, inventions, business districts, and more. Many left out of our schools, textbooks, and mainstream media. Much of this is done to support the fabricated narrative that Black Americans were happy with oppression, didn't contribute to a nation they actually built, or to discourage Black self sufficiency. 

Our hope is that our Freedmen Flashcards not only create conversations about these things but become an educational tool to aid in the fight against our suppressed history for adults and children. The ultimate goal is to spark interest, empower, inspire,  and remind generations to come of the rich history and culture we come from.
